This article examines problems and possibilities connected to dissemination of results from a Danish research project on music teaching and learning in the upper secondary school (gymnasium) (Jespersen 1988). The examination focuses on 4 different dissemination initiatives, two within the framework of the project itself and two from the following years. (1) Problems connected to member checking and validation of qualitative research in (music) teacher styles are discussed; (2) ethical and political problems connected to action research are illustrated; (3) implementation of research results and qualitative methods (participant observation and mutual supervision of colleagues) in supplementary training of (music) teachers is documented and discussed; (4) implemantation of research results and qualitative methods in the training of university music students is documented and discussed. The author argues that observation and supervision should be integrated in university training programs as well as in supplementary training of music teachers. |
